Eating the apple gives you a 15 minute disguise buff as a member of the Scarlet Crusade, and all of the npcs inside Tyr's Hand will become allied, and you cannot attack them.

Also, if you're a female rogue and stealthed while disguised, a glitch will change your illusion from a female to a male Scarlet Crusader, and back again if you exit and reenter stealth.

I thought it be cool to have another costume around but you can only eat the apples in Eastern Plaugeland defeating the point of keeping it.

If you use ghost wolf while disguised, then you will get the 40% increased movement buff, but not actually change into ghost wolf form; you remain in Scarlet form. Once you come out of ghost wolf, then you will change genders.

It appears that there is a bug that prevents you from looting the Rotten Apple from Nathanos' Chest if you have autoloot enabled. You'll get a message saying you already looted the item and then the Rotten Apple disappears. I had to disable autoloot and manually loot the items from the chest.

This quest gives 9550 XP upon completion, not 6600 as stated above.

Looting will cause you to lose your disguise, so don't get tempted by any chests you run across unless the area is clear enough for you to loot and eat the apple again without getting agro.

If you guys are going to post 10 pages of comments about a quest, can you at least post 1 useful thing? Nobody cares if you look like a ghost wolf or a scarlet crusader. What people WOULD like to know however is where the npc is that you turn into .

Since NOBODY bothered to post useful information like that, I will point out that the Npc you are looking for is a wandering mob. He has spawned in the chapel, the large abby like building and various other places. You really have to just run around till you find him

Nathanos' Ruse

This quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard and cannot be obtained or completed.

Travel to Tyr's Hand, southeast of the Marris Stead. Once there, take a bite of the Rotten Apple. While under the guise of the Scarlet Crusade, deliver the Grand Crusader's Command to Crusader Lord Valdelmar.

Description

I have made some adjustments to this command. Should our little ruse work, they will expose the Scarlet Oracle and we shall strike!

Now pay attention, <class>. You are to deliver this command to the Crusader Lord, Valdelmar.

How? You are going to hand it to him, imbecile.

Take the command and this rotten apple to Tyr's Hand. When you cross into the city, eat the apple. You will transform into something more... palatable to the humans. Take the command and hand it to the Crusader Lord, Valdelmar.
